How Long Do Batteries Last in Electric Golf Carts?
Battery lifespan is a range, not a number, and the biggest variables are charging habits and climate rather than brand.
Typical lifespans
- Lead-acid: several years with diligent watering and full charges
- Lithium: considerably longer cycle life, less maintenance, higher entry cost
What shortens life
Deep discharges held repeatedly, partial charging, infrequent watering, heat, and chargers that never quite finish. Any one of them cuts years off a pack; together they ruin it in a season.
Signs it is time
Range that has visibly declined, longer charge times, and the cart struggling on hills it used to climb easily. At that point a load test tells you whether you are diagnosing a pack or a charger.
