Golf Cart Safety Tips for Street and Course
Nearly every golf cart incident comes from the same handful of causes: too many people on the cart, standing passengers, an unsecured load and a speed that did not match the surface.
On the course and in the neighborhood
- Everyone sits, everyone wears the belt if the cart has them
- No standing passengers, even for a short distance
- Slow down for slopes, wet grass and loose gravel
- Assume drivers in cars have not seen you — they often have not
Cargo and stability
Weight high or hanging off the back changes how a cart corners. Carry loads low, secure them, and remember that a rear seat carrying people is not also carrying the cooler.
Night driving
Use lights, keep to the right, and avoid unlit shared paths where a small vehicle simply disappears against a dark background.
